American hollies are a native of the Eastern United States.  These evergreen trees can be found from the coasts of Massachusetts to the interior of Florida and west to Eastern Texas.  The small inconspicuous white flowers are a favorite of pollinators.  Several species of bee, wasp, ant, and night-flying moth can be found visiting American holly flowers in the spring.  While the red fruit is poisonous to humans, it is a staple food source for many song birds.  The fruit can also a desirable landscape accent in your garden during the winter months.
